Our Car; Cimbrer II, competes in the UrbanConcept Class. This means that there are requirements for the cars size as well as extra accessories typically seen in urban driving like windshield wiper, doors and lights.
The first part of the Marathon is the Technical Inspection where the car is checked in every nook and cranny to see if it is both safe and lives up to the requirements for the class.
The second part of the Marathon is all about Maximum Efficiency. The car must drive a certain amount of laps on the track while using the least amount of fuel and still be within the time limit. After a valid attempt the team with the best mileage wins their corresponding class.
The last part of the Marathon called Drivers World Championship is a bit special, because this part is all about speed. However the catch is that the car can only use the amount of fuel that they used to get their current ranking. Being number in a class grants +20% extra fuel while being second grants +10% and third +0%.
There are also various off-track rewards for teams deemed deserving by Shell, making it viable to dedicate time and resources to areas like PR and team spirit.
